The Pole, 2011

The thing about shooting for others is that I seem to get pulled farther from the visions that I have.  I had to rebel against that once years ago because I felt that my images had lost meaning for me.  I do not ever want the bulk of my work to be meaningless for me personally.  I feel that the value in my work comes from the fact that I am selfish.  My goal is to make the best body of work that I can….To truly put myself into my work and to not simply be a technician making a picture for someone else.  This image of Christina is an example of me shooting for myself, while obviously also for her.  My favorite clients are those who have the confidence to trust me and know that I’d never do anything with the images we make against their wishes…Release be damned.  That is a true collaboration and the only way I work.
